Hometown - 4.2m bombyx silk/tsumugi silk
At just about 4.3m plus short, untwisted fringe, Hometown is a handdyed bombyx silk warp in earthy taupes and greys, greens, blues, ending in some golden yellow, and of course lots of colorful speckles. The weft is mainly charcoal tsumugi silk with “confetti,” which is little multicolored flecks spun into the charcoal. Subtle, but really fun! The weave is a simplified version of the pattern used for the rest of the warp.
This piece also has many details: Each tail has a “ghost pattern” woven in black tsumugi plus a block of lighter grey confetti tsumugi. The ghost pattern is heavily visible & contrasting on one side of the fabric, but disappears on the other!
The middle marker is a weft change woven in a handdyed khaki/yellow tinted brown with flecks of yellow. Mirror imaging grey, charcoal, and black clasps are woven in the center. The entire middle marker is flanked by a block of black weft for a little extra.
Overall a super moody yet colorful, beautiful piece!
